How to convert annual salary to hourly pay
The calculator first works out how many hours you work in a year, then divides the annual salary by that number of hours:
- Annual work hours = hours per week × weeks per year
- Hourly equivalent = annual salary ÷ annual work hours
- Weekly equivalent = annual salary ÷ weeks per year
Adjust the work schedule to match your situation
The defaults of 40 hours per week and 52 weeks per year equal 2,080 annual hours, but both values are editable — the calculator always derives the annual hours from the numbers you enter, not a fixed 2,080. A 37.5-hour week, part-time hours, and a work-year of fewer than 52 weeks are all supported, and decimal values such as 48.5 weeks are allowed.
Use the number of weeks you want included in the annual-hours calculation. Paid leave and other schedule differences can affect how you interpret the hourly equivalent, so the right denominator depends on the comparison you are making.
What the hourly equivalent does not include
This is a simple salary-to-time conversion based on the annual amount and work schedule you enter. It does not subtract taxes or withholding, and it does not add benefits, bonuses, commissions, equity, or other compensation. It does not apply overtime rules, and it does not convert currencies — the hourly and weekly results use the same currency as the annual salary you enter.
