How to calculate a tip

The tip is the bill amount multiplied by the tip percentage, divided by 100, and the total is the bill plus that tip:

Tip amount = bill amount × tip percentage ÷ 100
Total with tip = bill amount + tip amount

How to split a bill with tip

When you split between more than one person, the calculator divides the exact total and the exact tip evenly by the number of people. Per-person amounts are an even mathematical split and are rounded for display, so occasionally the displayed shares will not add back to the exact total to the last cent — that is normal rounding, not an uneven split.

Currency and tipping rates

The calculator does not convert currencies — all displayed amounts use the same currency as the bill you enter. It also calculates from the amount you enter and does not separately work out tax, fees, or automatic gratuities.
